Sheila Bayley (b. 1986) is a self-taught Kenyan contemporary artist, based in Nairobi. With a bachelor’s degree in psychology, she explores the balance between nature-nurture and how it determines human behavior.

She presents a body of work created between 2023 – 2025, comprising various sizes of acrylic and mixed-media paintings on canvas and paper, inspired by themes of identity, her personal experiences, and perspective on the complexities of urban life. She intends to provoke the viewer’s thoughts and emotions, taking their minds on a journey to a place of no return.

In 2021, she was the guest artist at the Kobo Open Studio Art Sale & Exhibition in Nairobi. In 2023, she had her first solo show at Peponi Hotel in Lamu. Also, she had her first international duo show the same year at Gallery Brulhart in Geneva, Switzerland. She has participated twice in the Affordable Art Fair by the National Museum Society of Kenya. Her artworks are part of private collections locally and internationally in Zanzibar, USA, France, the UAE, UK, Australia & Switzerland.

Sheila has a deep connection and passion for the development of Art in East Africa, and dreams of creating a system of education that is centered around Art as a life skill and career. With an advancing career, she is open to both local and international collaboration opportunities, residency, and exhibition programs.
